Beers and Probst Content Teacher Literacy Grant
Grants of up $1,000 for content literacy instructional projects are available for secondary teachers in content areas (social studies, science, arts and humanities).
Any secondary educator who is a member of the Kentucky Reading Association.

Grants awarded: September 22, 2017
Grant implementation: 2017-2018 school year
Applications consist of a description of the project idea, how it will be implemented and how its effectiveness will be measured. A proposed budget for the project, including an itemized list of books and materials to be used, is also required. Contact email@example.com, if you have any questions about the application process.
Applications must be authored by the educator implementing the project.
Winning grant proposals demonstrate:
- Clear evidence of content reading strategies that contribute to effective reading instruction.
- Clearly articulated literacy-based content instructional goals.
- Explicit instructional plans.
- Specific alignment to Kentucky Academic Standards.
- Clear support for KRA goals.
- A complete budget plan.
Priority will be given to those educators who are willing to share their knowledge and experience of this project through intent to submit a proposal to present at the 2018 KRA Annual Conference, write and submit a brief article for the KRA newsletter, or submit an article for the KRA journal.
Project Completion and Appraisal
Upon completion of their grant plan, or no later than August 1, 2018, each teacher is required to send a written appraisal of the use of the grant. The purpose of the appraisal is to aid the teacher and KRA in determining how successfully the grant was implemented. If an appraisal is not received, the teacher will be ineligible for future grants
